Latest news from Belvoir Brewery
Summer has finally arrived and as ever things are busy for us here in Vale. The brewers have continued to brew our range of excellent beers for you all to enjoy, and as we’ve got some sun there’s no better time to enjoy a few refreshing pints or bottles of your favourite local beer from Belvoir Brewery.
In the brewery we’re currently in the process of installing a new 5 barrel fermenter which will give us the opportunity in the future to brew a lot more specials which we’re all really excited about, especially the brewers! On the social media front we’re now up and running on Instagram which of course means less chat, and more wonderful pictures of our beer…and of course our fantastic Hot Air Balloon.
As you might have seen in our June blog Colin was lucky enough to fly over London in the Lord Mayor’s Hot Air Balloon regatta, but he’s also more than happy flying locally and was spotted leaving Play Close Park in Melton Mowbray on Monday night to try and make the most of this current heatwave.
Our fantastic Oatmeal Stout is tasting and looking better than ever thanks to the updated design being used on our most recent batch, and although a lighter beer is probably always going to be your first choice on a barmy summers eve, there’s nothing wrong with enjoying a lovely Stout or two as the evening wears on. Remember…a Stout isn’t just for Christmas!
As usual our bottles have been on their travels, with our Celebration Day reaching the summit of Mont Ventoux, the “Giant of Provence”…although as you can see it was so cloudy at the summit you couldn’t even see the telecommunications mast! However, the weather was kinder when our Peacocks Glory made it up the legendary 21 hairpins of Alpe d’Huez back in June.
More recently our Beaver made it to the summit of Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales thanks to the efforts of brewer Pat (on the left in the hat), and driver Ian, and it goes without saying it was more than welcome at the top! Our Peacocks Glory then made it to the home of Cricket with a trip down to Lords and was also well received on a very hot day. We now have a list of bottle stockists as a sub-menu on the bottled beer section of our website complete with link to each site.
Our cask beer continues to sell well and we’re now selling more of it into Nottingham which is good for all concerned. We’ll continue to push our great product into as many places as possible to give more people the chance to enjoy our traditional hand crafted ale.
For those of you lucky enough to be going to the Great British Beer Festival from 9-13th August, make sure you try some of our turbo powered Sir Frank Whitt’Ale which we’ll be sending down. We’re also delighted to announce that our Head Brewer and Beer Sommelier Derek Orford will be down at the festival, and not only will he be representing us, he’ll be acting as a guide which he’s really looking forward to. So, if you think you know about beer and how it tastes, why not track him down and pit your wits against him!
Finally, we’re thrilled to announce that our stilton infused beer “The Blue Brew” will soon be appearing in a fantastic book about various strange and different beers from around the world. Further news of this to follow in due course.
We’re constantly updating our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts so please keep following us and we welcome all feedback, and any photos our of wonderful Beer and Balloon.
Cheers
