Old Dalby Day

26/08/2016

It’s August Bank Holiday this weekend which means only one thing…it’s Old Dalby Day on Monday 29th August of course…and yes, we’ll be there as ever providing all with some Star Quality Beers, along with lager, cider, wine, pop, and water.

Dalby Day has been going for over 30 years, providing a full day of family entertainment in a traditional village setting which also raises important funds for charities, support groups and local businesses in our community.

It all starts at 11:00 on the village green with car parking available at £4 per car, and just to reassure all the day will go ahead…regardless of the glorious summer weather!

The Old Dalby Senior Hill Race (16 and over) is £5 entry and will start at 11:10. The course is 4.5 miles of challenging terrain taking you through beautiful rolling hills at the start of the Vale of Belvoir. It involves a mixture of country road, field, and woodland tracks and will start and finish at the show ground on the village green. There will be prizes for first man, first lady, and first local male and female. All monies raised from the race will go to Old Dalby Day charity.

As ever, Brewery owner and Master Brewer Colin Brown will be manning the bar and providing all with the best local beer around. He will be assisted by our Head Brewer and Beer Sommelier Derek Orford and they’ll be serving Whipling - our light, crisp, refreshing, golden ale, along with our premium Chestnut Best Bitter Beaver…and of course it wouldn’t be Dalby Day without our rich, ruby, smooth strong ale named after the village itself!

All indications are that unlike last year (when Colin got absolutely soaked) the rain WILL stay away, so why not pop down for a few hours and enjoy the final bank holiday until Christmas…along with a pint or two of the finest local beer.

Cheers…
